School-Based Health Clinic

health-clinic-75The Southwest Open School (SWOS) School Based Health Center (SBHC) offers SWOS students and all Montezuma County residents under age 21 limited primary medical services. The health center is under the medical direction of Southwest Health System, Inc. The SBHC strives to provide health care to high risk, under-served adolescents here at SWOS and in the community.

Services provided include: comprehensive physical examinations, immunizations, treatment of acute illness, reproductive health care, and management of chronic conditions. Twice a year the SBHC provides dental screening and cleaning. Mental health services include a part-time behavioral health provider, counseling, and substance abuse education. Referrals are also made to appropriate community agencies. SWOS students, who may not have access to affordable health, can be treated for various health issues. This support system allows them to be more physically and mentally prepared to succeed in their education.
