Enrollment & Registration
We are currently accepting enrollment applications for the 2022-2023 school year. Space is limited so turn in your application as soon as possible.
You may drop off a completed application at the SWOS front office, please email Casey Simpson ([email protected]) or Bonny White ([email protected]) to ensure someone will be at the office when you plan to stop by. We are also happy to set up a time and place to pick your finished application up from you, please email to set this up.
Enrollment in charter schools is available to all students, including students with disabilities, and information about disabilities will not be requested until a student has been admitted and enrolled in a charter school.  For questions regarding the admission and enrollment of students with disabilities in charter schools, you may contact Casey Simpson, Director Southwest Open School @ 970-565-1150 ext. 6015.
New Students

Registration begins two weeks prior to the first day of the corresponding semester. We usually offer two full days of registration for each semester. Please check our calendar of events for our upcoming registration dates. To expedite the registration day process, download and complete the Registration Packet above to bring with you on registration day.

New students please bring the following to registration day:

  • Most current transcript(s) from school(s) previously attended.
  • Immunization record.
  • Proof of address.
Returning Students
Returning students - make sure you complete your registration packet and turn it in to the front office to secure your spot for next school year. Registration for Fall intensives will be held August 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
FERPA Rights
Parents of students and eligible students in attendance have the following rights under FERPA, including their right to —

    Inspect and review the student's education records;
    Request amendment of the student's education records;
    Consent to disclosures of PII, with certain exceptions; and
    File a complaint with the Family Policy Compliance Office at the U.S. Department of Education.

The annual notification must include the following:

    The procedure for inspecting and reviewing education records; and
    The procedure for requesting amendment of education records.

The notification must also include a statement that education records may be disclosed to school officials without prior written consent and specify (a) criteria for determining who are school officials, and (b) what constitutes a legitimate educational interest.
